The Salthorse Master’s programme has been introduced to allow students with little or no superyacht experience to achieve all the skills and competence required to qualify for a Mate 200 GT certificate. The programme includes a combination of live aboard and ashore theoretical and practical training culminating in a formal independent examination, successful completion of which will see students being awarded the Master of Yachts 200 tons (Coastal) certificate.

An intensive, predominantly live aboard course which includes at least 25 days at sea (in the Great Barrier Reef) and up to 1000 sea miles, the Salthorse programme is an ideal way for people from all walks of life and from diverse backgrounds to obtain a professional internationally recognised superyacht qualification.

The Salthorse programme includes the following training:
  • Week 1: International Crew
  • Week 2: International Bareboat Master
  • Week 3: STCW 95
  • Week 4: VHF Radio operator; Mechanical engineering workshop; Coastal Navigation theory
  • Weeks 5-7: Offshore sea time/Master of Yachts 200 tons (Coastal)
The Salthorse programme is the fastest way for a beginner to obtain a professional superyacht qualification.

With no prerequisites, the Salthorse programme is designed to take students to a Mate 200 GT in 7 weeks.
